This notice explains the cookies, pixels and similar technologies used on araceagainstblindness.org, fundraiser.araceagainstblindness.org and donor.araceagainstblindness.org, and how to control them. It is part of our Privacy Policy.
1. What these technologies are
Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. Pixels and tags are snippets of code that send information about your visit to us or to a partner. Local storage is a browser feature that works like a cookie. We group them into four kinds:
- Essential: needed for the site to work (your cart, signing you in, remembering your cookie choice, protecting forms from bots). These never require consent.
- Functional: remember preferences such as currency or an accessibility setting.
- Analytics: tell us how pages are used so we can improve them.
- Advertising: let Meta, Google and similar companies measure whether our ads led to a donation and show RAB ads to people who visited our fundraiser store. These may be a "sale," "sharing" or "targeted advertising" under some state laws.
2. How consent works on each site
araceagainstblindness.org. You see a banner on your first visit. Until you choose Accept, only essential cookies are set. If you accept, analytics and advertising tags load on our public pages: the homepage, About pages, Fundraisers, Past Winners, Reviews, the Help Center and FAQ pages, our news and blog articles, our policy pages, the site search page, the Education Hub landing page and the public Grants Portal information pages. They never load on Education Hub condition pages, gene pages, clinical-trial pages, specialist listings, guides or Education Hub search, or on sign-in, administrative or grant-application pages. Your choice is stored for 180 days. Choosing Decline, or sending a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, keeps all non-essential tags off.
fundraiser.araceagainstblindness.org. The store is hosted by Shopify, which sets essential cookies for your cart and checkout. Visitors in the United States and Canada, and anywhere else the law requires it, see a consent banner with Accept, Decline and Manage choices. Advertising and analytics tags (Meta, Google, TikTok, Snapchat, Klaviyo tracking and the theme's own Meta cookie) load only after you choose Accept; Decline keeps them off. Shopify's essential cookies, our page-testing tool (Shoplift), the Trustpilot review widget and the app features in the table below load with the page. You can change your choice at any time from Your Privacy Choices, which links to Shopify's data-sharing opt-out page for the store.
donor.araceagainstblindness.org. Essential cookies only (sign-in session and bot protection). No analytics or advertising.
4. Your choices
- Banner: choose Accept or Decline when you arrive; change your mind any time at Your Privacy Choices.
- Global Privacy Control: turn it on in your browser or with an extension, and we treat it as an opt-out of targeted advertising and of the "sale" or "sharing" of your information on that browser. We treat a Do Not Track setting the same way.
- Browser settings: every browser lets you block or delete cookies; blocking essential cookies will break checkout and sign-in.
- Advertising partners: Meta ad preferences (facebook.com/adpreferences), Google Ads Settings (adssettings.google.com), TikTok and Snapchat privacy settings, and the industry opt-outs at optout.aboutads.info and optout.networkadvertising.org.
- Shopify: Shopify's Privacy Portal (privacy.shopify.com) lets you opt out of Shopify's own use of your information for Shop and Shop Pay.
- Analytics: the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout).
5. Changes and contact
